Woman hit by car after fight with two men on Orange Blossom Trail

A woman was rushed to an Orlando hospital with face, skull and leg fractures early Friday after the man she'd been dating for a month shoved her into the path of an oncoming car on Orange Blossom Trail, police said. After she was hit by a northbound silver Volvo, "she went up in the air approximately six feet," one witness told Orlando Police, according to a report. Rodney Terrance Wilson, 38, was arrested and taken to the Orange County Jail. He faces charges of battery, aggravated battery with great bodily harm and attempted homicide.

New $41.8 million bridge over Orange Blossom Trail to open soon

Right now, the $41.8 million bridge spanning the Orange Blossom Trail north of downtown Orlando could be considered the most expensive skateboard park in Central Florida. At least that is the way John Precil on Thursday was using the flyover that connects John Young Parkway with Forest City Road, or State Road 434. "It's a nice hill and a chance to avoid the cars," said Precil, an 18-year-old Seminole State College student who rode his skateboard to an event celebrating the imminent opening of the bridge.

Pedestrian killed on Orange Blossom Trail

A 59-year-old Orlando man was killed Thursday when he walked into the path of a car on Orange Blossom Trail , the Florida Highway Patrol said. Carissa John, 21, of Kissimmee was northbound in a 2004 Nissan when Clive Shaver stepped into her path at 35th Street, troopers said. The accident happened at 6:15 p.m. Shaver died at Orlando Regional Medical Center. John was not hurt. No charges have been filed. sjacobson@tribune.com or 407-540-5981

Orange Blossom Trail Crash Kills Apopka Man

July 30, 2000

An Apopka man was killed Saturday when he drove his Cadillac into another car's path while trying to cross Orange Blossom Trail, the Florida Highway Patrol said. Daniel Coley, 47, was killed. The other car's driver, Oscar B. Gray, 41, of Eustis, had minor injuries. A trooper said Coley tried to cross the north lanes from a parking lot and was hit by Gray's northbound 1993 Oldsmobile. The accident was at 12:30 a.m. near Plymouth, north of Kitt Avenue.

Woman killed during hit-and-run crash on Orange Blossom Trail

A woman was killed during a hit-and-run crash on Orange Blossom Trail in Orange County early this morning, the Florida Highway Patrol. The woman, who hasn't been identified yet, was trying to cross the busy road, from east to west, not at a crosswalk or an intersection around 3:30 a.m. at 39 t h Street, the FHP said. The first driver involved with the hit-and-run crash has been arrested on a charge of leaving the scene of a fatal crash, while the FHP is still searching for a second driver who was involved in the hit-and-run.
